Pahrump Valley and the Spring Mountains
Las Vegas Balloon Rides, which also trades as Balloons Over Pahrump, flies over the Pahrump Valley in the Mojave Desert, about 50 miles west of Las Vegas. In 2019 the owner of Balloons Over Pahrump, Doug Campbell, told the Pahrump Valley Times that Clark County and FAA rules led him to move flights there. He said the launch depended on wind: Sanders Family Winery when a south wind blows, otherwise Ian Deutch Park.
Vegas Balloon Rides drives passengers to a flying area it puts about an hour from the Strip, with views of Death Valley, the Spring Mountains and the Sierra Nevada. The company knows where each flight will take off but not where it will land. Its balloons range from 120,000 to 330,000 cubic feet, and the largest hold 16 passengers and a pilot, in partitioned baskets.
Polaris Avenue meeting two hours before sunrise
Vegas Balloon Rides meets about two hours before sunrise at its office, 4390 Polaris Avenue, just west of Aria, and offers free pickup and drop-off from your hotel. After 8 pm the evening before, a recorded status line confirms if the flight is on and gives the exact meeting time. The drive out takes about an hour. Plan on roughly 6 hours in all, with at least 45 minutes aloft and a champagne toast after landing; water is provided throughout.
Las Vegas Balloon Rides recommends driving yourself to Pahrump and offers a shuttle from Las Vegas on request. Its flights last 45 to 60 minutes at sunrise, and every package includes breakfast, a champagne toast and a wine tasting. In 2019 the owner told the Pahrump Valley Times that passengers went on to Sanders Family Winery for the tasting and to Lakeside for breakfast.
Freezing winter nights and 100-degree summer days
Las Vegas Balloon Rides sells flights 365 days a year. In Pahrump, a June to August day brings about 100°F and sometimes 110°F, while most nights from December to February sit near freezing; spring is the windiest season, as across the Mojave. Vegas Balloon Rides says its flying area runs about 10 degrees cooler than the city, and that the coldest moment of the morning is on the ground just before takeoff.
Vegas Balloon Rides flies only when winds stay under 10 knots (about 11.5 mph) and it is not raining, with no storm approaching within 100 miles. It also needs 3 miles of visibility and a cloud ceiling of 3,000 feet or higher. It says passengers are sometimes canceled more than once before they get to fly, for weather or equipment reasons. Las Vegas Balloon Rides advises scheduling the flight near the start of your stay. The Pahrump Hot Air Rally in the Valley, free at Petrack Park, ran February 13 to 15, 2026.
Hotel pickup at $359 or self-drive from $295
Vegas Balloon Rides charges $359 per person on its homepage, with hotel pickup, the drive to the flying area, a champagne toast and water included. Groups of three or more get 15% off with the code Group. Passengers must be at least 6, under-18s need a parent or guardian, and nobody over 280 lbs can fly. Prepaid vouchers bought directly can be refunded or transferred within a year if no flight is booked or the first one is canceled at least 48 hours ahead, and they never expire.
Las Vegas Balloon Rides sells three tiers. A shared basket of 8 to 10 people costs $295 per person, a standard basket of 4 to 6 costs $395 per person, and a private flight costs $795 per person, two minimum. All include breakfast, a champagne toast and a wine tasting, and passengers over 250 lbs may pay extra. It calls itself Southern Nevada's longest-operating balloon ride company. It publishes no cancellation terms or age rules.
